These islet cell tumours of the pancreas are often less than I .5cm in diameter, are multiple in 10 per cent of cases and are occasionally malignant, Their demonstration by CT requires a meticulous technique, using thin contiguous sections and rapid sequence scanning after a bolus of contrast medium. Even small insulinomas can be detected by CT because of their intense enhancement, as seen in this scan.
